Games Design Course (For ages 10 - 14)
For young people who enjoy a challenge! The Games Design Course gives children the opportunity to learn and develop a range of skills, whilst having fun. Led by Susannah, a qualified teacher, ex-Senior Lecturer in Education and now Learning & Teaching Adviser and Oliver, an ex-computer games designer and now a Director of Engineering.
Quite often creative activities and activity courses can feel uncomfortable for more introspective and introverted participants but this course has been carefully crafted to nurture everyone.
Although this particular course focuses on board games, many of the creative and production processes are also applicable to computer game design.
Day one
Participants evaluate a selection of games and learn about the creative process.
Day two
Partipants collaborate to develop a prototype of their game and learn about Agile.
Day three
Production day - groups will manufacture a game for each member.
TESTIMONIALS FROM PARENTS OF PREVIOUS PARTICIPANTS:
Thank you so much for creating an opportunity for my son to do something which is fun, taxing and different. Plus involves team work, creativity and negotiation skills. What a great half term activity. M.G.
He has been full of excitement and enthusiasm from each day on the course and today he told me about his certificate and his strengths you recognised. He cannot wait to take his certificate to school on Monday to show his teacher. Thank you for giving my son a great time.
Hi, my son had a great time. Thank you. He tells me there are other courses coming up he would like to go on so please keep us on the mailing list. A. W.
